Native to Central and Northern South America Life Span 10-15 years Size: 6-7" in length Markings: Unusual; including black polka dots on their flanks and stripes on the heads and back. Housing Requirements: a large cage (minimum 18-24" length) with a network of branches or flexible cloth perches that they can run on throughout the cage. Pedicure perches to keep toenails trimmed as they tend to grow rapidly. Sound: quiet by comparison to similarly-sized birds. These birds make wonderful apartment or condominium companions as they will not disturb the neighbors. |
